The Oregon House of Representatives, following similar action by the Oregon Senate, has approved a six-year extension of the Oregon Cultural Trust's tax credit. The bill containing the extension now goes to Gov. John Kitzhaber, who had included this tax credit extension in his proposed 2013-15 budget.

"I do want to thank each of you for the role you played in this successful outcome," said Bob Speltz, chair of the Oregon Cultural Trust. The Cultural Advocacy Coalition made extension of the tax credit by the Legislature the primary focus of its efforts this year.

The Cultural Trust is funded through donations which can donors the opportunity to qualify for a limited tax credit. As a result of the donations, the Trust annually awards more than $1.5 million in grants to nonprofit heritage, humanities and arts organizations, county and tribal cultural organizations, and its five statewide partners.
