LOOKING FOR ANOTHER TREASURE

Oregon's heritage collections have many treasures. Still, you probably would be surprised by what some museums, libraries and archives have in their collections. The Mind Your Collections<http://mindyourcollections.org/> website highlights this month a treasure from the Lane County Historical Museum that you will be surprised is in a museum's collection.

While you are there, check out the collections care and emergency management information. The website is part of the Connecting to Collections project of the Oregon Heritage Commission, which is funded in part by the Institute for Museum and Library Services and the Oregon Cultural Trust.

If your organization has a unique and significant item in its collection that you would like to see featured, send photos and information about it and its care to Oregon Heritage at heritage.info at oregon.gov<mailto:heritage.info at oregon.gov>

COMMUNITY GRANT APPLICATIONS NOW AVAILABLE

Applications for the Oregon Community Foundation's community grants may now be submitted through its online application system. The application deadline is Jan. 15.

The community grants program<http://www.oregoncf.org/grants-scholarships/grants/community-grants> is a broadly accessible, responsive statewide grants program. Its long-term goals are to strengthen the social fabric of our communities and improve life in Oregon. More immediate goals are to respond to evolving, community-identified needs and to build civic leadership and engagement.

WASHINGTON COUNTY MUSEUM SEEKS EDUCATOR

The Washington County Museum is seeking a museum educator to deliver museum programs to youth and adult groups in accordance with Washington County Museum's Field Trip and Mobile Museum curriculum, as well as present occasional evening and weekend programs at the museum. This position is solely responsible for presenting from prepared curriculum. This is a part-time position with hours that will vary depending on program schedules.

TAMASTSLIKT INSTALLING SOLAR CARPORTS

In its continuing quest to reach net zero energy consumption, Tamástslikt Cultural Institute<https://www.tamastslikt.org/> in Pendleton is building two solar carports in its parking lot. This follows installation of a wind turbine last year.

With a portion of a grant from Pacific Power Blue Sky of Oregon for $350,000 and a cash award from the Energy Trust of Oregon in the amount of $78,138, Tamástslikt started construction this week on two 123kW solar carports. The project is expected to be completed by March 30.

The solar panels were manufactured in Hillsboro and will produce about 140,000kW hours of electricity per year - enough to power 13 average Northwest homes.
