Oregon Cultural Trust Cultural Development Program
Among the funding opportunities discussed at the Conversations events will be the Cultural Trust's Fiscal Year 2024 Cultural Development Program (funds to be awarded summer of 2023).
The Cultural Development Program recognizes and supports significant projects through four program funded categories: Access; Preservation; Creativity; and Capacity.
In 2022 the Cultural Trust awarded more than $3.4 million in grants statewide. Cultural Development Program grants represent one third of the annual funding the Cultural Trust provides to Oregon's cultural nonprofits. Other funding includes grants to the Trust's five statewide partners - to support their mission goals and respective funding programs - and to 45 county and tribal cultural coalitions that fund local initiatives, projects and programs.
FY2024 Cultural Development Program grants are for projects and activities that will occur between Sept. 1, 2023, and Aug. 31, 2024.
Grant guidelines will be posted in February for a Friday, May 5, 2023, application deadline.

WEBINAR: How to Oral History, March 2
How to Oral History
Free online event
Rachael Cristine Woody
Thursday, March 2, 2023 12:00 PM PST
Oral histories are increasing in popularity as the archives and public history world attempt to repair the historical record and balance the variety of voices represented in the collection. Oral histories as a concept have existed in cultures dating back to the first centuries of human civilizations. They're incredibly valuable because they can capture so much contextual information in addition to the recollections being shared. It also acknowledges the authority of the storyteller and grants agency that few other historical records can. However, oral history education has often existed on the fringe of our field and if you've never conducted an oral history before, it can be intimidating. This webinar will layout some of the basics for how to oral history including equipment, research, question construction, permissions paperwork, conducting the interview, and post-production. But, more importantly, we'll discuss strategies in managing the interviewer-interviewee dynamic, and your responsibility for the wellbeing of the interviewee. By the end of this webinar, you will have the confidence and knowledge you need in order to successfully conduct your own oral history interviews.
Register here<https://www.relicura.com/webinar-registration-page> with an opportunity to submit questions in advance.

American Alliance of Museum launches new series, Reopening: What Museums Learned Leading through Crisis
"Reopenings: What Museums Learned Leading through Crisis is a special series of reports that aims to capture the long-term lessons, mindsets, and practices museums can learn from their handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and the nation's reckoning with systemic racism.
In this report titled Reboot, we kick off the series by looking at how the pandemic forced museums to accelerate their digital transformation. Through case studies, data, and multimedia, we explore the stories of museum professionals whose ingenious use of technology brought joy to millions of people and examine whether these pivots have set the field on a course to better serve the public." The 2023 Oregon Tourism Industry Stakeholder Survey is Open
In June 2022, Travel Oregon adopted a new 10-Year Strategic Vision. To bring this vision to life, Travel Oregon, and the state's seven Regional Destination Management Organizations (RDMOs) will develop strategic plans that respond to the emerging needs of the tourism industry.
Travel Oregon recently launched a stakeholder survey<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Ft.e2ma.net%2Fclick%2F5jas4k%2Fpv851c%2F1g95e2c&data=05%7C01%7CHeritage.Info%40oprd.oregon.gov%7C7ed57a7cc67b4c1c55ae08db0aecb38c%7Caa3f6932fa7c47b4a0cea598cad161cf%7C0%7C0%7C638115783959268902%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=FD%2FAxxG0UZCqWO6snVyiuoxMg7Hh%2BOgOSj52SYcLRWA%3D&reserved=0> and wants to hear directly from those who work in or interact with Oregon's tourism industry.
Information collected through the survey will help Travel Oregon and regional partners determine strategic direction, make funding and programmatic decisions in marketing, grants, tourism-related infrastructure, visitor management and more. Survey results will be shared on Travel Oregon's industry site and through this newsletter in March 2023.
Please take the survey<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Ft.e2ma.net%2Fclick%2F5jas4k%2Fpv851c%2Fh995e2c&data=05%7C01%7CHeritage.Info%40oprd.oregon.gov%7C7ed57a7cc67b4c1c55ae08db0aecb38c%7Caa3f6932fa7c47b4a0cea598cad161cf%7C0%7C0%7C638115783959268902%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=USIEoa%2Bvr%2BIQt%2BB6zZ5Xqdj6svy%2BS38XWLxoJy8P48g%3D&reserved=0> and share with your networks.
