Coming Soon: Oregon Heritage Fall Workshop Series - Organizational Planning Without Fear or Anxiety

Remove the stigma and fear around organizational planning with Oregon Heritage this fall! In our annual Fall Workshop, Kyrie Kellet of Mason Bee Interpretive Planning, will provide support and a pathway for organizations who'd like to embark on goal-setting journeys or establish workplans for projects and organizational priorities. Kyrie is as local to Oregon's small museum community as it comes; raised in rural Oregon she has worked with, has a passion for, and understands the world of volunteer-run small heritage organizations in the state. Her workshop will be interactive, laying stepping stones for where to begin on this planning process, especially when and where resources are limited for creating or executing a full-strategic plan. Let us help you remove the anxiety from the planning process, set goals, and ultimately prioritize workloads within your mission.

Workshop Locations:

  *   McMinnville
  *   Woodburn
  *   Newport
  *   Baker City
  *   Grants Pass
  *   +1 Bonus (Virtual; Unrecorded)

All workshops will happen from late October through early December. Final dates, venues, and registration to be announced shortly! Information will be added to the website here<https://www.oregon.gov/oprd/OH/pages/conferences-%26-workshops.aspx> as sites are confirmed and registration opens.

NPS Historic Preservation Fund En Español - Announcing newly crafted Spanish language resources
In recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15 -Oct. 15) the State, Tribal, Local, Plans and Grants (STLPG) division of the National Park Service announces the most recent addition to the STLPG website, En Español - Historic Preservation Fund (U.S. National Park Service) (nps.gov). En Español provides resources in Spanish for those considering application to one of the eight competitive grant programs managed by STLPG. All funding for competitive grants come from the Historic Preservation Fund.
Individual grant program fact sheets, grant application instructions, "how to" complete SF-424, and a FAQ's page have been translated into Spanish to serve as tools for applicants. Competitive grant programs provide financial assistance to support historic preservation and history projects to States, Tribes, local governments, educational institutions, and nonprofit organizations to preserve, and highlight the special places and stories reflecting all American history. For additional application assistance email us at STLPG@ nps.gov.
Grants.gov is the system used for applying for these grants and the Spanish language resources can be found under the "Related Documents" tab of the grant. The Notice of Funding Opportunities (NOFO) for our FY23 programs are anticipated spring through fall 2023. It is recommended applicants set up a saved search on Grants.gov for CFDA 15.929 for Save America's Treasures and 15.932 for Historically Black Colleges & Universities and 15.904 for all other programs to be notified when the opportunity becomes available. Here are instructions on setting up a saved search on Grants.gov Subscribe to Saved Searches (grants.gov)<https://lnks.gd/l/eyJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.eyJidWxsZXRpbl9saW5rX2lkIjoxMDIsInVyaSI6ImJwMjpjbGljayIsInVybCI6Imh0dHBzOi8vd3d3LmdyYW50cy5nb3YvaGVscC9odG1sL2hlbHAvQ29ubmVjdC9TdWJzY3JpYmVUb1NhdmVkU2VhcmNoZXMuaHRtP3V0bV9tZWRpdW09ZW1haWwmdXRtX3NvdXJjZT1nb3ZkZWxpdmVyeSIsImJ1bGxldGluX2lkIjoiMjAyMzA5MjguODMzMDIwNzEifQ.Er-y0r2sD4AQWb_Qbbj3tzktO5PErUs1QOn8jOfxKQ0/s/2592610571/br/227022593678-l>
The application period is typically 90 days. Therefore, the deadline to apply will be 90 days after the NOFO is posted to Grants.gov. Because the window to apply for funding is limited, we encourage applicants to plan well ahead of the deadline. Information on applying to all our programs is available through our website year-round: State, Tribal, Local, Plans & Grants Division (nps.gov)<https://lnks.gd/l/eyJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.eyJidWxsZXRpbl9saW5rX2lkIjoxMDMsInVyaSI6ImJwMjpjbGljayIsInVybCI6Imh0dHBzOi8vd3d3Lm5wcy5nb3Yvc3ViamVjdHMvaGlzdG9yaWNwcmVzZXJ2YXRpb25mdW5kL2hvd3RvYXBwbHkuaHRtP3V0bV9tZWRpdW09ZW1haWwmdXRtX3NvdXJjZT1nb3ZkZWxpdmVyeSIsImJ1bGxldGluX2lkIjoiMjAyMzA5MjguODMzMDIwNzEifQ.yv5b5jPUR3jSIzugPvG4AmsNkDeVCVK9E1QDua8RQ6U/s/2592610571/br/227022593678-l>

The Atlas of Drowned Towns and the Old Detroit History Jamboree: Recovering Histories Lost to Big Dams featured on the Oregon Heritage Exchange Blog
"Robinette. Hebron. Dorena. Detroit. These are all places in Oregon's history, and readers of this blog might be familiar with the latter two, but perhaps not the former. All are the names of towns that disappeared (Hebron and Robinette) or were displaced (Dorena and Detroit) as part of "river development projects" - the construction of big dams for hydropower, flood control, irrigation, and other purposes. These and other such lost or displaced communities are the subject of the Atlas of Drowned Towns, a public history project seeking to recover and interpret the histories of places moved or eliminated to make way for large dams."
