Whether you want to walk, ride in a van, or take your own car, the conference will connect you to more than a half dozen tours involving historic buildings, historic cemeteries, museums, and historic highways.<BR><BR>Here are the tours available to Extravaganza participants:<BR><BR><STRONG>Wednesday, April 15</STRONG> -- <BR>Multnomah County Courthouse and Pioneer Courthouse Tours<BR>Afternoon -- The Multnomah Bar Association will provide tours of these two historic structures. You won't need to bring a "get out of jail free" card to participate. Stay tuned for details.<BR><BR>Multnomah County Library Rare Book Collection<BR>6 p.m. -- Some of the library's spectacular collection can be viewed during this time. Join other conference attendees at local dining spots afterwards.<BR><BR><STRONG>Thursday, April 16</STRONG><BR>Historic Columbia River Highway Tour<BR>Noon -- This four-hour van tour of the Historic Columbia River Highway, a National Historic Landmark, will take participants to Vista House at Crown Point, Multnomah Falls and Lodge, and the recently reopened Oneonta Tunnel. Preregistration required.<BR><BR>Vancouver National Historic Reserve Tour<BR>12:30 p.m. The Hudson's Bay Company's Fort Vancouver is the heart of the Vancouver National Historic Reserve. The Reserve brings together a national park, a premier archaeological site, the region's first military post, an international fur trade emporium, one of the oldest operating airfields, the first national historic site west of the Mississippi River, and a waterfront trail and environmental center on the banks of the Columbia River. This self-guided tour begins at the reserve allows individuals to choose among activities and get a behind-the-scenes look at its operations.<BR></SPAN></DIV><SPAN style="FONT: 11pt Tahoma; COLOR: #000000">

The tour includes nine period or historically accurate kitchens in house styles ranging from Queen Anne to mid-century. More than 25,000 Oregonians have been buried here from the 1840's to the newest immigrants arriving from the former Soviet Union. Grave markers are in German, French, Spanish, Japanese and Russian. The Soldiers' Memorial commemorates veterans from four wars. Block 14 is a statement of the plight of the Chinese men who worked on the construction of railroads and water facilities.
