Celebrate the Arch Bridge in Oregon City on Saturday
The Clackamas County
Historical Society (CCHS) celebrates the historic 1922 Arch Bridge over the
Willamette River 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, when the Museum of the Oregon Territory is open
for a special event.
For the first time, CCHS will unveil for purchase two original
posters and three photo reprints from the CCHS historic images collection featuring
the Willamette Falls and the Arch Bridge.
MOOT also will display 10 paintings featuring the Arch Bridge and
the Willamette Falls in a variety of media, including a painting by
noteworthy artist Mike Bagetta. The paintings and Native American-style and period music by Heartstrings Duo will be featured in the CCHS Tumwater Room which also offers a breathtaking view of the historic Willamette Falls.
Admission $3 for members, $5 for nonmembers,
or FREE with membership renewal or purchase.

Also on Saturday, the Oregon Department of Transportation closes
the Arch Bridge for a two-year restoration project. The Willamette Falls Heritage Area Coalition celebrates with a special
event from 2-4 p.m. on the bridge featuring Native American storytellers and
dancers from the Grand Ronde Tribe, local artists who draw inspiration from the
river, and roving presenters weaving tales of the pioneer days.
