New Field Programs Manager & Advisors Join HPLO

With a full plate of initiatives for 2011, the HPLO is pleased to announce
that Brandon Spencer-Hartle has joined our staff as the new Field Programs
Manager. Brandon will manage efforts to help Oregon's Most Endangered
Places, develop and deliver Preservation 101 Workshops, and respond to
advocacy requests from the field. He is a recent graduate of the University
of Oregon's Historic Preservation Masters program (with which the HPLO has a
close relationship - dept chair Kingston Heath is a Board member).

Since his undergraduate days Brandon has been actively involved in Oregon
preservation efforts, volunteering at the Architectural Heritage Center in
Portland, on the HPLO's Advocacy Committee, and as the author of the HPLO
Special Report on Healthy Historic Districts produced by the 2010
Preservation Roundtable.

This much-needed expansion of staff capacity and programming follows the
strategic plan adopted by the HPLO Board in 2009 and was supported by a
generous gift from an anonymous donor through the Oregon Community
Foundation. We are tremendously grateful for the support and know that
everyone will love working with Brandon as much as we do!

We are also pleased to welcome four more members of our Advisory Board: MJ
Koreiva (representing the South Coast region), Janel Chapman (representing
Central Oregon), Bill Pattison (representing the Gorge/Northern region), and
Jill Thorne has signed on as an Advisor on legislative matters. We have
representation from all areas of the state, with all regional Advisors
participating on the HPLO Advocacy Committee, providing direction on local
issues. For a full list of HPLO Board and Advisors, please see our website.

Also be sure to MARK YOUR CALENDARS for two special events:

- The Mid-Century Marvelous RUMMER Home Tour - Saturday, May 21st
in Beaverton - proceeds benefit the preservation programs of the HPLO and
support Oak Hills' National Register nomination.

- A luncheon benefiting Oregon's Most Endangered Places - Monday,
May 23rd in Portland, bestselling author of historical fiction, Steve Berry,
will announce the list for 2011 and speak on the importance of preservation.

Tickets for both events are available on the HPLO website:
www.HistoricPreservationLeague.org

(Rummer Tour tickets are on sale now; Most Endangered Places luncheon
tickets will be available later this week.)
