Join us to learn tips on designing your project and writing for successful grants. The first part of the session will address issues to consider when planning your project. The second part will focus on the grant writing. While the information will help with any grant, the emphasis of the workshop will be on the Oregon Heritage Grants, the Oregon Museum Grants and the Historic Cemeteries Grants offered by Heritage Programs of Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. This workshop is highly recommended for people who plan to apply for these grants.

3. OCHC is looking into how historic cemeteries are served by the designation and the laws that refer to it. We are looking for stories from cemeteries that were vandalized and the perpetrator's were caught. We are looking for both designated and undesignated cemeteries. Please contact Kuri Gill at Kuri.Gill at state.or.us or (503) 986-0685 to share your story.

4. HB 2086 and 2087 passed.
Both bills, introduced by the Secretary of State's office, passed this legislative session. Please visit oregon.gov to see the actual text. HB 2086 Allows non-profit associations incorporated with the State of Oregon who missed their renewal deadline keep the status and renew without having to reapply as a non-profit. SB 2987 removes the non-profit corporation renewal fee for organizations whose function is to operate historic cemeteries. The cemetery must be listed with the Oregon Commission on Historic Cemeteries to receive this benefit and organizations must still complete the annual process.
