[kids-lib] OregonASK project

Many of you are aware of OregonASK (http://www.oregonask.org/), the statewide network for afterschool providers.  OregonASK if finally getting off the ground and running by implementing projects through partnerships with afterschool organizations.  For example, about a dozen of you librarians participated as presenters in OregonASK's positive youth development training.  Six more of you are just beginning to work with OregonASK on a new project to develop a circulating collection of afterschool curriculums at your libraries.  

In addition to participating in projects like those I just mentioned, you can support OregonASK and your local afterschool providers by promoting other OregonASK projects.  For example, this summer OregonASK is partnering with 4H to provide a 4 week free summer camp for children and teens of military personnel. There are over 6,000 kids in Oregon with a parent in the military! These camps are sponsored by the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation and the Sierra Club.  Libraries who are interested can easily support this project by posting the attached flyer in their library.  (I've also cut and paste the flyer below because attachments don't always work on listservs.)
