Subject: Silverton's Bobbie

Silverton's Bobbie, His Amazing Journey-the True Story. (http://www.beautifulamericapub.com/special.html) Bobbie was a farm collie in Silverton, Oregon that in 1924 was on a cross-country car trip with his owners and was accidentally lost during a stop in Indiana. Over the following six months Bobbie made his own way back to Oregon traveling over 2.500 miles on paws during one of the hardest winters on record. Upon his return to Oregon, exhausted and bedraggled, Bobbie became instantly world famous and was even listed in Guinness Book of World Records and Ripley's Believe It or Not. In Judith's book, verification of this incredible feat is seen through excerpts of letters from those kind people on his route who, once they saw the newspaper publicity, remembered giving this poor tired dog a meal and place to sleep, only to see him leave the next morning with an apparent purpose.

In its third printing, Bobbie continues to sell well throughout Oregon. It is a unique little piece of Oregon's history and a story that goes straight to the heart of all who read it-dog lovers and history buffs alike. I have been told that grandmothers love to read it to their grandchildren. There is a bronze bust of Bobbie in the Oregon Garden, and Judith was instrumental in raising the donations to fund this wonderful tribute to Bobbie.

Silverton's Bobbie (ISBN 0898027705) retails for just $9.95 in hard cover. We offer a library discount of 25% ($7.45 cost, plus $2.50 postage, $9.95 total).
