I am looking for Spanish speaking children's library staff who are interested in helping to select the Spanish giveaway books for the Reading for Healthy Families project.

Those of you working in Oregon public libraries in the counties listed below will be invited to participate in Reading for Healthy Families, a free statewide early literacy training program. Each Reading for Healthy Family participant receives 15-30 books to giveaway to families they provide with early literacy education. If you are planning to participate in Reading for Healthy Families, this is your opportunity to help select which Spanish titles you will be given at the training.

If you volunteer to do this, your task will be to:
Review a list of about 50 Spanish or bilingual books for children 0-5 years old, eliminate titles from the list which are culturally inappropriate or inaccurate, and highlight titles you think are "must haves"
Suggest additional "must have" titles to add to the list
Your input will be due by Monday, July 6th
Please let me know if you are interested in helping to select Spanish giveaway books by Wednesday, June 24.

To learn more about Reading for Healthy Families go to the website at: http://www.oregon.gov/OSL/LD/youthsvcs/rfhf.home.page.shtml or contact me at katie.anderson at state.or.us.
