Hi! I just learned from Debbie Reese, author of the American Indians in Children's Literature blog, about a series of beginning readers by Eaglecrest Books featuring contemporary Native families and cultures. The titles are also on the Reading Recovery(r) booklist. Learn more:

* Debbie's blog post about the books: http://americanindiansinchildrensliterature.blogspot.com/2008/02/leveled-readers-featuring-first-nations.html

*         The publisher's website: http://www.eaglecrestbooks.com/catalog_2011/EC_catalogue_final_lowres.pdf

*         The Reading Recovery(r) booklist: http://readingrecovery.org/book-list/search?ideditor=20&english_only=on

This is not an endorsement. Please remember to review all material according to your collection development policy to make sure they are appropriate for your library and community.
