Hi Everyone:

Yes! The 2017 winners of the Caldecott Medal come to Portland, on Sunday, November 12th, from 2:30 to 4:30 at the First Unitarian Church, Eliot Chapel, 1011 SW 12th Ave,
This is a rare and special opportunity.

Caldecott Medal recipient:
Javaka Steptoes, author and illustrator, Radiant Child. The Story of Young Artist Jean-Michel Basquiat.
Caldecott Honor recipients:
Carson Ellis, author and illustrator, Du Iz Tak,
R. Gregory Christie, illustrator, Freedom in Congo Square by Carole Boston Weatherford,
Brendan Wenzel, author and illustrator, They All Saw A Cat, and
Vera Brosgol, author and illustrator, Leave Me Alone.

Steven Engelfried, Youth Services Librarian for Wilsonville Public Library, will moderate.

Families, children librarians, educators, and fans of the finest children’s picture books will have an opportunity to hear and see the authors-illustrators discuss their distinguished works and future work as well as learn about a recently discovered shared Northwest connection.

Books will be available for purchase.

This event is FREE; but donations will be welcomed.
