development bang!*

Join us at the Mock Coretta Scott King Book Awards Workshop for an
opportunity to:

   - increase your book evaluation skills,
   - expand your reader's advisory knowledge,
   - get behind-the-scenes information on being on an ALA book evaluation
   committee, and
   - win books and other fun prizes!

**Registration deadline: January 24, 2018*

Our featured speaker is Dr. Jonda McNair, Professor of Literacy Education
at Clemson University and Past Chair of the CSK Book Awards Committee. Via
Skype, Dr. McNair will talk about her experiences as a Coretta Scott King
Jury Member and Chair and as a member of EMIERT (Ethnic and Multicultural
Information Exchange Round Table).

Attendees will learn about the history and criteria of the CSD Awards and
have time to explore the 8 illustrator books. The afternoon will be filled
with small and large group discussions and voting for Oregon's Mock Coretta
Scott King Awards for both author and illustrators.

CSD members* and $10 for non-members, and all attendees who register before
January 20th will have the chance to win a selection of past Coretta Scott
King books. * Scholarships to cover registration costs or travel costs like
hotel for CSD members traveling over 100 miles away for the event might be
