Salem Public Library (Oregon) is Recruiting for a half-time Senior Library Assistant!

Begin an exciting career with the Salem Public Library, an advancing Library serving the State's capital city.

Salem Public Library is seeking an energetic and service-oriented individual who is interested in working in an enthusiastic and highly collaborative environment driven by innovation.
The successful candidate for this half-time career Senior Library Assistant position will have excellent lead worker and cash handling skills, a proven track-record of exceptional customer service, and the ability to work with diverse user groups both internally and externally. This position reports to the Youth Services manager and serves all ages on public service desks, collection maintenance and community outreach.

Additional desired competencies include knowledge of adult and youth literature; familiarity with Library functions; ability to learn, demonstrate and troubleshoot a variety of technology, including hardware and software (computers, tablets, Library databases and applications); ability to collect and produce statistical reports, strong Microsoft Office and Spanish speaking skills.
Bachelor's degree and two years lead work in a library is preferred.

What are the minimum qualifications?

  *   Must have an Oregon Driver license and a driving record that meets the City of Salem's driving standards.
  *   Associates degree and one year of customer service, or equivalent.
  *   Must pass the pre-employment background check and drug test.
  *   Must have the ability to work a varied schedule - including weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
