Please pardon the cross-posting.
Hi,
In response to the coronavirus situation, Gale has temporarily opened up<https://blog.gale.com/thinking-of-your-team-and-how-we-can-help/> several databases and resources to anyone to use for free. We already have access to most of the databases through our statewide contract. However, one product that is newly and temporarily available to anyone that does not already subscribe is Miss Humblebee's Academy. The resource is an "interactive kindergarten-readiness program that introduces children ages three to six to key concepts in math, science, social studies, language and literacy, art, and music."
[cid:image003.png at 01D5FC74.AB293CB0]The access point is under Enhance Instruction on Gale's COVID-19 Support page<https://www.gale.com/covid19support>, and if prompted for a password, use "open" (no quotes). A parent or caregiver needs to create an account so there is a place to store materials. (Don't want to give the child's full name? Use a first name only, a nickname, etc.) Once logged in, check under Learn More for an FAQ and under Resources for video guides. Gale also has a fact sheet<https://www.gale.com/binaries/content/assets/gale-us-en/elearning/miss-humblebees-academy/miss_humblebees_academy_schools_factsheet.pdf> about the product.
[cid:image007.png at 01D5FC74.AB293CB0]In addition, Gale has temporarily opened up a small professional development collection of ebooks about virtual learning and a collection about pandemics, disease, and public health. The access point is under Learn How to Go Virtual on Gale's COVID-19 Support page<https://www.gale.com/covid19support>, and if prompted for a password, use "open" (no quotes). Educators might be especially interested in the virtual learning collection.
FYI, I added the links for these temporarily-available products to the top of the OSLIS Find Information pages (elementary<https://elementary.oslis.org/find-information>, secondary<https://secondary.oslis.org/find-information>). You are welcome to copy the links from the Gale COVID-19 Support page, and add them to your own library's website or resource list.
Many vendors have opened up digital products during the coronavirus outbreak. The only reason I am singling out Gale is because we have a statewide contract with them. This Google doc<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1cY1LVMia1EXv6HYSHF4vtrCuKbzchmSGfNR8gpdPCmU/edit>, which is available on Library Support's coronavirus page for libraries<https://libguides.osl.state.or.us/coronavirus>, is being used to track resources related to closures, including lists of educational products that are temporarily free.
Questions? Please ask. Also, please share this information with appropriate audiences.
Thanks,
Jen

Hi. I usually only share information about OSLIS and the statewide databases on the OSLIST listserv, but I'm making an exception in order to share the information below. Thanks. -- Jen
Hi Folks,
Library Support staff created a LibGuide to provide information and resources about the coronavirus (COVID-19) as it relates to libraries. It includes links to the ALA COVID-19 statement, precautions to take during open hours, info about facts vs. myths, and more. If we receive any library-specific guidance, like about handling returned library materials, we will add it to the LibGuide.
Notice the link in the Other Resources box which leads to a Google document of resources related to closures. Examples include lists of educational products that are temporarily free and information about Comcast offering 2 months of free Internet to low-income families. Anyone is welcome to add to the document.
Questions? Please ask.

P.S. Emails to State Library staff were bouncing earlier today, but that issue has been resolved. The problem was totally unrelated to the coronavirus. ;-)
