[Libs-Or] April Portland Downtown Librarians' Meeting

Hello Everyone-
 
The April meeting will be hosted by Carol McMenamin, librarian at The
Oregonian. We'll meet from about noon-1 on Wednesday, April 16. The
Oregonian is located at 1320 SW Broadway. There is no official parking lot
but there are meters in the middle of the block. You can also take a Tri-Met
or C-Span bus and get off on SW 5th at Jefferson or Columbia; The Oregonian
will just be a block away. Procedure to enter the building: Enter through
the entrance at 1320 SW Broadway. Go to the receptionist desk next to the
guard station. You will receive a visitor pass, and receptionist Marty
Prunty will call the library to have someone escort you to the third floor.
Security is tight now, as you might imagine.
 
Carol has some interesting things planned for us. She's asked managing
editor, Sandy Rowe, to come answer our questions. We'll also see a short
film about The Oregonian, and some folks from the research department will
talk about their positions. I think it'll be quite interesting, particularly
since the paper is keeping really busy reporting about Iraq. Cookies, punch,
and coffee will be provided. 
 
An RSVP by April 11 would really be appreciated so Carol can figure out
which conference room to use, and how many chairs will be needed. Her email

The Portland Downtown Librarians meet for an informal brown bag lunch at
noon on the third Wednesday of almost every month at places hosted by local
information professionals. Locations are not restricted to downtown. If you
would like to host a meeting in the next few months, please let me know.
