Dear Colleague:
I'm writing to remind you to participate in Register to Vote @ your library, a voter registration initiative co-sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and Working Assets. Through this initiative, ALA is encouraging its 64,000 members to get registered to vote, as well as urging libraries across the country to promote voter registration and education on their campuses and in their communities.
The election is less than 100 days away. Are you sure that your name appears on the voter rolls? If you are not registered to vote or need to update your registration information, click here now: http://www.yourvotematters.org/ala <http://www.maildogmanager.com/link.html?url=98&client=ala1&campaign=45&email=wyma@newportlibrary.org> .
If you are already registered to vote, do your friends a favor and forward them this email. It's easy, it's quick and it's a great way to support the values we all believe in - because when you register to vote or update your registration at http://www.yourvotematters.org/ala <http://www.maildogmanager.com/link.html?url=98&client=ala1&campaign=45&email=wyma@newportlibrary.org> , Working Assets will make a donation to the American Library Association for support of library advocacy.
With the 2004 presidential race less than 100 days away and shaping up to be just as close as it was in 2000, each and every vote will be vital in determining the course our nation takes in the future. However, you can't vote if you're not properly registered. This year millions of new voters are being registered nationwide. Because of massive efforts to register new voters, in some states it might take election boards weeks or months to enter new voter registration cards onto the official voter rolls. To be sure that your name appears on the voter rolls, go to http://www.yourvotematters.org/ala <http://www.maildogmanager.com/link.html?url=98&client=ala1&campaign=45&email=wyma@newportlibrary.org> today. There you can register to vote or change your registration address. Just fill out the form, print, sign, stamp and mail.
Thank you for your support and for taking a moment to help increase civic participation.
Best wishes,
Carol Brey-Casiano
President
American Library Association
