Guidelines for the Revised National Leadership Grant Program Now
    Available

The guidelines for the updated National Leadership Grants for
    Libraries <http://www.imls.gov/grants/library/lib_nlgl.asp> and for
    Museums <http://www.imls.gov/grants/museum/mus_nlgm.asp> are now
available on the IMLS Web site as a PDF file
    <http://www.imls.gov/grants/museum/pdf/2005NLG.pdf>. To request
paper copies of the guidelines, call 202-606-8539 (museums) or
    202-606-5226 (libraries).

The program features three new categories under which both museum
and library applicants may apply: "advancing learning communities,"
"building digital resources," and "research and demonstration.".
Each of the three categories also encourages museums and libraries
to partner with each other or with other community learning
organizations. The deadline for all National Leadership Grant
    categories is February 1, 2005.

    Sixth Annual Web-Wise Conference

The 2005 Web-Wise Conference on Libraries and Museums in the Digital
World will be held in Washington, DC, February 17-18, at the Hyatt
Regency Hotel on Capitol Hill. The theme is Teaching and Learning
with Digital Resources. Sessions will include presentations by
educators, library and museum professionals, and information
scientists on using digital library and museum resources both in the
classroom and in independent learning environments. Two half-day
preconferences requiring separate registration--one on Business
Planning for Sustaining Digital Cultural Heritage Resources and one
on Planning and Implementing User Studies--will be offered on
February 16. On February 17, David Rumsey, president of Cartography
Associates and director of Luna Imaging, will give the keynote
address on new technologies and new users. Exemplary digital
projects supporting educators, students, and lifelong learners will
be featured in plenary sessions and breakout demonstrations.

To register for the main conference or the preconferences, and for
hotel accommodations, please go to the conference Web site
