	Temporary Part-Time Librarians (2 positions)

	Salary: $20.63 per hour 
Deadline to apply: Open until filled. 

	The Position: The Multnomah County Library is seeking two temporary,
part-time Librarians to provide public service reference electronically for
the Statewide Digital Reference Service. These positions will be used to
fill off-peak hours on our statewide virtual reference desk (Answerland).
Each Librarian will work approximately 8 to 12 hours per week (all evening
and weekend hours) at the Central Library located in downtown Portland,
Oregon for approximately 4 months, but up to 1 year, if necessary. 

	Duties:  Will include using information sources including online
databases, print sources and card indexes to answer questions and locate
information to borrow; training the public in using the Library's resources.
These positions will also be responsible for referring questions to other
libraries participating in the project. 

	Experience:  No experience is required, however, virtual reference
experience is 
preferred. Familiarity with Windows is a plus. Must also be willing to work
with both 
youth and adults across Oregon.  The ability to work with minimal
supervision is desired. 


	     

	Training:   An ALA accredited Master's degree in Library Science or
its equivalent.
