Yes, thank you to all who posted to my questions! There is no way I can respond to each of you individually, so please take this as a general thanks. 

In essence, most thought that distance education was sufficient for hiring purposes.  Most responded that because students with degrees from distance programs will become more prevalent, those who hire must be open to students with such degrees.

Not surprising though, most strongly cautioned against non-accredited degrees. Some provided stories which were more than enough to frighten me straight!  In essence, don't do it!
