Instruction Services Coordinator

The OSU Libraries enhance and support the University's instructional,
research and public services programs with traditional and innovative
services and collections and a facility conducive to individual study and
collaborative work. The Valley Library, the main library on the OSU campus,
includes a collection of 1.7 million volumes, hundreds of video recordings
and subscriptions to approximately 10,000 periodicals, including over 1700
electronic titles. The Libraries are responsible for selecting, organizing
and providing access to information needed by OSU faculty, students and
staff on campus and in remote locations.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Instruction Services Coordinator is
responsible for the coordination of instruction services delivery, including
leading the library faculty's implementation of the Instruction program,
administering the WR121 program and managing the daily operations of the
Collaborative Learning Center.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Assistant Head of Reference &
Instruction, the Instruction Services Coordinator serves as a member of the
Instruction Workgroup which establishes the strategic framework for the
Libraries' instruction program; helps develop practical strategies for
delivering instruction in alignment with the instruction program; ensures
that library faculty have the tools needed to deliver and assess
instruction; develops, schedules and delivers library research method
instruction in support of WR121 and other lower division undergraduate
courses both online and in the classroom; assesses and modifies
instructional methods based on solicited quarterly feedback; oversees the
effective operation of the Collaborative Learning Center (CLC) including
developing procedural manuals and gathering and maintaining statistics
related to the space; acts as project leader in the selection, design,
production and evaluation of online tutorials and conducts various training
related to the CLC, WR121 as well as the use of new instructional
technologies for on-call instructors, graduate teaching assistants and new
CLC tutors.
The Instruction Services Coordinator supervises 2.0 FTE student assistants
and approximately .5 FTE on-call librarians. This position writes and
reviews position descriptions; hires student assistants; assigns, monitors
and reviews work; writes performance evaluations; prepares schedules to
assure adequate coverage; responds to grievances and recommends salary
adjustments.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required qualifications include a minimum of one year
professional library or instruction experience including full range of
supervision; previous experience with Microsoft Excel and other
microcomputer applications; demonstrated ability to manage projects and a
proven aptitude for leadership; demonstrated knowledge of instruction or
learning methodology; ability to develop effective collaborative
relationships within the department, library and with other OSU departmental
representatives; excellent English communication and interpersonal skills;
and self-directed. Preferred qualifications include a Bachelors or Masters
degree in Education or other related discipline; minimum of one year
experience in a library public services area; previous project management
experience in a larger setting; working knowledge of educational
technologies or instructional design and a demonstrable commitment to
promoting and enhancing diversity.
EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS: Full-time, 12-month, fixed-term professional faculty
appointment. Reappointment is at the discretion of the University Librarian.
Minimum annual salary is $33,000; appointment beyond minimum commensurate
with education/experience as it relates to the position.

photograph and map collections of the State Government Archives in Olympia;

large photograph collections; Photo preservation and restoration; Designing

Qualifications Required: Master of Arts degree in History or a related field
with an emphasis in Archival Administration and three years of professional

and restoration; designing photo displays and marketing photographic images;
experience using Photoshop and cataloging software; and traditional photo
