[Libs-Or] Read Across Oregon read-a-thon starts March 1st

Dear Library Community,

As a reminder, Oregon Literacy's 3rd annual Read Across Oregon read-a-thon 
commences March 1st.  During this month-long celebration of literacy, 
libraries are encouraged to have employees and the public sign up and 
participate by reading as much as they can!  Importantly, this event will 
raise money for your library and support Oregon Literacy's valuable 
programs and services.

Oregon Literacy, Inc. (OLI) requests a minimum donation of $10 to join Read 
Across Oregon (RAO).  Participants then have the option of obtaining 
pledges in addition to the entry fee, much like any walk-a-thon or 
bike-a-thon, on a per page basis - for example:  5 or 10 cents per 
page.  Libraries (and schools) receive half of the funds that are raised by 
anyone that they have brought in to participate in RAO!

is space on the entry form to designate the library name so that credit can 
be given for the funds raised by each participant.)  OLI will provide the 
marketing materials, reader packets, raffle prizes and do the bookkeeping 
for RAO.  The library simply promotes the read-a-thon as much as possible.
