Multnomah County Library in Portland, Oregon is the oldest public
library west of the Mississippi, with a history that reaches back to
1864. As Oregon's largest public library, Multnomah County Library
serves over one-fifth of the state's population with a wide variety of
programs and services.
The Library is currently seeking a culturally competent, dynamic,
service-oriented individual to assess short- and long-term reference,
information service, and adult outreach needs of the community for this
nationally-recognized library system. This senior management level
position will direct, oversee, and participate in the development of the
Library's reference, information services and adult outreach vision,
goals, objectives and work plan in alignment with the Library
Department's vision. Requires four years of increasingly responsible
experience in library program management, including two years of
supervisory experience. Knowledge and experience in one of the principal
areas of reference and information services or adult outreach programs
and practices is required; experience in both areas is desirable. A
Master's degree from an American Library Association accredited college
or university with major course work in library science. Salary: $62,751
