[Libs-Or] Invitation to meet our guest Chinese librarians

You are invited to join us on Friday, January 28, 3:00 pm, at the Tigard
Public Library, to meet Mrs. Zhang and Mr. Chen, who have been visiting
Oregon libraries for the month of January. They will talk about their
experiences (snow!), and answer questions from the audience. The meeting,
which is sponsored by the OLA International Relations Roundtable, will be
followed by a 6:00 no-host dinner at the Chinese buffet Treasure Island in
Beaverton. You do not have to be a RoundTable member to attend the meeting
or dinner. 

Those of us who have worked with Mrs. Zhang and Mr. Chen have found them to
be delightful, lively people. Mrs. Zhang is the Chief of Personnel for the
Fujian Provincial Library in Fuzhou,  which serves a population of three
million people. Mr. Chen is Deputy Director of the Xiamen Municipal Library
in Xiamen, which serves a population of 1.5 million people. They have been
visiting Oregon on the Horner Exchange, through which Oregon hosts two
librarians from China, and Fujian Province hosts an Oregon librarian in
alternating years. 

If you plan to attend the dinner, please notify Tom Larsen at
larsent at pdx.edu so he can reserve enough space at the restaurant.
