[Libs-Or] Oregon Mock Newbery

Approximately 30 library staff members from around Oregon met on Friday, January 6, for a Mock Newbery discussion.  Here are the results of the discussion:

Mock Newbery--Hitler Youth: Growing Up in Hitler's Shadow by Susan Campbell Bartoletti

Newbery Honor--Criss Cross by Lynne Rae Perkins
                           Chicken Boy Frances O'Roark Dowell
                           Each Little Bird That Sings by Debbie Wiles

I thank Thom Barthelmess, Youth Services Coordinator for Spokane County Public Library and member of the 2005 Newbery Committee, and Ellen Fader, ALSC President and member and chair of several Newbery Committees, for facilitating discussions with me.  I appreciate everyone's participation, and, as always, am amazed at the twists, turns and revelations that occur during book discussions.
