Oversees all university libraries and work units to ensure full support for existing and developing programs. Administer library operations, including budget preparation and monitoring, policy development and implementation, evaluation of user resources and services, and personnel management.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, & BEHAVIORS:
MLS from an ALA accredited institution with an additional advanced degree preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Broad understanding of the field of library science--history, trends, and issues. Experience in grant writing and fund raising. Demonstrated ability to supervise and lead faculty and staff. Minimum of five years of library administrative experience.

The Garden Home Community Library, a member of Washington County Cooperative Library Services, is a small, busy library providing library services to children and adults in a recently expanded library within the Garden Home Recreation Center. Our 18,000 item collection includes books, DVDs, magazines and special sections for young children, school age readers, parenting and popular fiction and non-fiction. We pride ourselves on providing a warm, inviting place for adults and children.
Essential functions
Responsible for collection development for children's and youth areas, including selection, purchasing, receiving, processing and weeding of books (including graphic novels and anime) and media. Responsible for cataloging of materials using OCLC and Polaris. Plans, presents and supervises all phases of Summer Reading Program. Coordinates and trains staff and volunteers to assist with Summer Reading. Plans and presents current storytime program and develops new programs for children and adults. Plans and coordinates staff and volunteer participation and publicity for events and adult and childrens programs. Represents Garden Home Community Library at meetings as assigned. Other duties include working at circulation desk and providing reader's advisory and reference services. The position will assist the Director in developing library programs, budget management and other administrative functions. May be assigned supervisory responsibilities as needed. Represents, manages and supervises the library in director's absence.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and three years public library experience with a thorough knowledge of current library procedures and practices. Supervisory experience preferred. Experience working with children in a public library setting including reader's advisory and programming. Experience with cataloging (OCLC) and circulation systems (Polaris preferred), Microsoft Office and Printshop.
This is a full time position. May include evening and Saturday hours. This position reports directly to the Library Director. The starting salary is $31,500 -$35,500 annually with health and dental benefits and a Simple IRA savings incentive matching plan.
