Title:                 Library Assistant II

Organization:     Chemeketa Community College

Location            Salem, Oregon

Closing Date:     November 3, 2006

Position Overview
This position has primary responsibility for managing course reserve
operations for the college, including record maintenance, material
tracking, replacement and repair, and oversight of copyright compliance.
Frequently corresponds with faculty to provide a high level of service
and access to course-related material. Keeps abreast of new technologies
and service trends related to circulation and academic reserve services.
Provides in person and remote public service assistance, responding to
questions about library equipment, materials, and services. Other
related duties as assigned.


Terms of Employment


100 percent, 12 month annualized assignment. Current work schedule
Monday-Friday 7:00 am - 4:00 pm.  (May require flexible work schedule
during peak periods and/or a change in work schedule due to department
needs.)


Salary and Benefits


Classified salary schedule, Range A-4, $1,868.00/mo. 

The college also provides an excellent benefits package, which includes

collective bargaining agreements).  Benefits also include: life, and
disability insurance and membership in the Public Employee Retirement
System (PERS) or Oregon Public Services Retirement Plan (OPSRP). 

Minimum Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent. Two years' experience in an office,
library, bookstore, video store, retail environment with a customer
service focus. 

Preferred Qualifications
Reserve room or cataloging experience. Library experience with an
integrated library system (Innovative/Millennium preferred). Circulation
experience. OCLC experience. Knowledge of copyright laws and regulations
as they relate to libraries. Experience with electronic reserves.
Bi-lingual/bi-cultural. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 
Extensive computer skills.  Good keyboarding and proofreading skills.
Experience working with a wide variety of people. Experience in managing
time, working under pressure with many interruptions. Demonstrated
attention to detail; good oral and written communication skills.
