Please excuse cross-postings. We're searching far and wide for great
applicants!
This message is about a job opportunity with LINCC -- the Library
Information Network of Clackamas County.
Before I copy-and-paste the text of the job announcement, I'd like to
let you know a few things about the job. First, it's my job -- I'm
leaving to take another library automation/tech services job, so this is
an established, regular, full-time job, not a newly-created one. Second,
my job at LINCC is a *fantastic* one -- I never thought I'd be leaving,
but I've found an opportunity that's even more closely suited to my
professional and personal goals. Third, the LINCC team is really
exceptional -- the core team at the LINCC office is amazing, and the
staff at our member libraries is awesome. Together, we do a lot of good
work for the citizens of Clackamas County and beyond.
Quick system facts:
1. We're on track to circ 6,300,000 items this year out of 13 buildings.
2. We have a database of approx.: 500,000 titles ; 1,100,000 items ; and
200,000 patrons.
3. We serve 10 city libraries plus a county library (which has three
branches).
4. LINCC provides centralized OCLC cataloging, OCLC ILL, courier
service, ILS and WAN management that links all the libraries together,
and technical support to our member libraries.
5. LINCC member libraries work together in uncommonly close cooperation,
recognizing that our patrons have several "home libraries" -- where they
live, where they work, where they shop, and where their kids go to
school. Even though the libraries are operated by different
jurisdictions, they work hard to provide excellent quality and seamless
service to all patrons.
6. LINCC is in the middle of some infrastructure upgrades at the central
site, both to prepare for a new ILS and to improve our online services
to citizens.
If you're at all interested in a fun job with the potential to make a
huge impact, then I'd encourage you to look closely at this one. This is
the kind of job that comes along once every 10 years or so. I'm excited
to move forward toward my new job, but I'm still sad to leave such a
great job (and great people!) behind. :-)
Now, with all of that said, here's the text of the ad:
