Library Manager
Stevens County Rural Library District Kettle Falls, WA

SALARY: $41,724.80 - $48,380 per year

WORKING HOURS: 40 hours per week, with some evening and weekend hours.
LOCATION: Kettle Falls Public Library, 650 Meyers Street, Kettle Falls, WA. Kettle Falls sits in one of the most beautiful mountain areas of Washington State with lakes, forests, and wildlife. Kettle Falls is in northeastern Washington and is 80 miles north of Spokane and 40 miles south of the Canadian border. The area offers four seasons of recreational activities including skiing, snowmobiling, golf, hiking, fishing, and camping. The City of Kettle Falls is adjacent to Lake Roosevelt National Park and is a hub for small communities on this beautiful forested and mountainous northern end of the Columbia River in Washington State. DUTIES: The Kettle Falls Library Manager is a full-time highly responsible management and front line public service job involving planning, directing, and supervising patron services for a community library facility. The Kettle Falls Library is one of the larger libraries in the Stevens County Rural Library District. The position will include coordinating and overseeing outreach to area schools, programming for a variety of ages, collection development, staff training, community involvement, participation on a website development committee, and public speaking. The position also manages the small branches in the towns of Hunters and Northport, and the library station in Onion Creek. The Kettle Falls Library Manager has some leadership roles on countywide projects and will assist with coordination of library service throughout the region.
The Stevens County Rural Library District is one of the newest and most exciting library systems in Eastern Washington. Libraries in this rural district implement a wide range of approaches to library service to meet the needs of a geographically dispersed population: virtual reference, blogs, remote access databases, wikis, remote book returns, library "stations" in general stores, as well traditional library facilities. Stevens County Libraries were featured on WebJunction for their ability to build community online and in ALA's March, 2007 Public Libraries journal for their innovative use of a wiki.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. MLS Degree from an ALA accredited school of librarianship and/or WA State Certification as a Librarian required.
2. Three years of related full-time work experience including supervisory experience, and at least one year of related fulltime library employment.
