Information Technician II, (Part Time)

Brief description of position: In a library setting, the Information Technician will be responsible for providing information services that are repetitive in nature, such as answering ready-reference questions regarding catalogs, and using bibliographic tools, such as periodical indexes. Answers routine inquires and refers request for professional assistance to the librarian. Shelves new and returned material in stacks. Maintains automated circulation system and the circulation desk. Sorts and distributes mail addressed to the library to appropriate units within the Library. Maintains equipment such as audiovisual equipment, microform reader/printers, and photocopiers by changing toner cartridges and keeping paper trays filled. May assist with interlibrary loan processes.
EDUCATION/EXPERIERNCE: High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum of two (2) years experience working in a library and typing skills of at least 35 words per minute, along with word processing experience. Experience with Microsoft Office applications is preferable.

Under the direction of the corporate Account Manager, LAC seeks an On-site Project Manager (PM) for a long term project in New Orleans, Louisiana that will last approximately 2 years. The PM provides on-site management of all aspects of both the on-site Recovery Cataloging Team and the On-site Recover Processing Team. The project is expected to start in January of 2008.
Responsibilities: Supervise and schedule on-site staff on a day-to-day basis and manage the production processes to include meeting production timelines, benchmarks, and quality standards; Oversee quality assurance; Maintain statistics, monitor production progress, order supplies, and prepare project reports and records as required; Act as the on-site liaison with the project staff and keep LAC Account Manager and Head Cataloger aware of the production progress and management issues concerning the on-site staff; Hold staff meetings with project team leaders and staff on a regular basis or as needed; Participate in conference calls with Project Manager and off-site Cataloging Project Manager on a regular schedule (TBD); Maintain active communications and coordinate work effort with the client organization and LAC corporate staff; Other duties as directed. 
Qualifications: M.S. in Library or Information Science, Bachelor's in business administration with a concentration in project management, operations management or technical management preferred. Minimum of 5 years of technical services experience in a library, of which, 2 years must be in a supervisory capacity; Knowledge of national cataloging standards and practice including AACR2 and MARC21 formats; Recent experience with an integrated library system, preferably Endeavor Voyager; Effective verbal and written communication skills; Experience managing and supervising a large cataloging/processing project consisting of both professional and paraprofessional staff; Ability to work independently in a challenging multi-task project environment. Ability to work in a foreign language, desired.

Library Deputy Director

The Multnomah County Library in Portland, Oregon is a seeking applicants for a LIBRARY DEPUTY DIRECTOR position. This position in partnership with the Library Director is responsible for the Library Department's leadership, vision, planning, direction and accountability. The Deputy Director reports directly to the Library Director and assumes full authority when the Library Director is not available. This position directly supervises all of the library's direct service to the public, including a central library and 16 (soon to be 18) neighborhood libraries, and a variety of outreach services to people of all ages. In addition, the Deputy Director oversees key elements of support services that have a direct relationship to public services, including reference and services to target populations (including children, youth, adults and multicultural populations). In total, the Deputy Director has direct management authority for over 80 percent of the staffing and 75 percent of the overall budget. 
The position requires demonstrated leadership and management experience in librarianship typically gained through at least 3 years of senior management/administrative experience in a multi-branch library system and/or experience in managing a major division within a large library system. A Master's degree in library and information science from an accredited college or university is also required. The salary range is $74,262 to $103,966 annually. The specific salary for this position will depend on the successful candidate's experience and qualifications.
