POSITION SUMMARY
The Lower School Library Assistant shares with the Librarian the responsibility for running the Lower School library, including clerical, technical, and cataloging assistance duties. The Library Assistant is responsible for assisting faculty and students and supervising the Library when the Librarian is otherwise occupied. The person in this position must be willing to become a part of the life of the Lower School i.e. help organize events, serve on committees, etc. 
 
Requirements: 
.        Library experience in children's services and technical library skills such as cataloging, knowledge of automated circulation systems, and print and electronic research tools required.
.        Ability to teach library skills and research strategies formally and informally at each age level.
.        Follett Destiny experience and background in children's/young adult literature preferred.
.        Knowledge of developmentally appropriate curriculum and educational practices for children preschool through young adult preferred.
.        Ability to convey a love of literature to teachers and students. 
.        Completion of library/media courses from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience. 
.        Several years of experience providing the services listed above.
