The successful candidate would plan, direct and oversee the delivery of library services, including publicity and outreach for the City. The position supervises a staff of 5.5 FTE. The Library Director would communicate with the public in matters pertaining to library functions and ensure the adequate maintenance of library services. The St. Helens Public Library is located at the Columbia Center, a 15,000 square foot facility that houses library services, a technology center, and cultural activities. Candidates must have broad knowledge of the principles, practices and philosophy of public library administration, current methods and principles of the selection, acquisition, cataloging, processing, maintenance and circulation of print and non-print materials, reference, and outreach practices.
Qualifications required: Completion of ALA-accredited Master's of Library Science program and over two years of professional experience, or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties. The salary range is $5,333 to $6,481 per month. The City also provides an excellent fringe benefit package.
