Hi there. I am gathering information on processes, policies,
procedures, scripts, patron training, staff training, PR explanations or
what ever wisdom you can share concerning halting the collation of
library materials.

Currently does your library staff never open containers to see what
contents are inside?
(DVD boxes, CD boxes, VHS boxes, kits, books with DVDs or CD-ROMS, books
with maps or other paper parts etc. etc. etc.)

Definitions:
By "library staff " include staff at all levels as well as library
volunteers.

By "never open containers to see what contents are inside", I mean, not
at check in, not at check out, not during the shelving process, not
during the sorting process...not ever.

By "never open containers to see what contents are inside", I also mean
that you have self check out and do not inform verbally at that point
(after some initial patron training) nor assist patrons in collating
their materials before they leave the building to be sure that they have
complete items.

If you answered Yes to the above question we would like to hear from
you. We would greatly appreciate your help. Could you please contact
me off list and I will forward the questions we have compiled for
answering.

THANK YOU!
