Assistant Director of Development and Donor Relations

The University of Oregon is seeking applications for an Assistant Director of Development and Donor Donor Relations for the University of Oregon Libraries. Reporting to the Director of Library Development, this position is responsible for a variety of complex stewardship matters, such as prospect/donor cultivation and stewardship, donor acknowledgment, endowment management, and library awards administration - areas that call for initiative, independent decision making, organization, and excellent communication skills. The Assistant Director will work directly with prospects and donors and will manage endowed and current use funds, providing an important link between the university and its donors. This position will have major responsibility for the planning, implementation, and management of a stewardship program for the Libraries. Other responsibilities will include the coordination of cultivation and stewardship events on and off campus and general office management duties including budget management, donation processing, and the development and maintenance of library development web pages.
Qualifications:
Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree, preferably in English, marketing, public relations, business management, communications or a closely related field. Additionally, candidates will have strong organizational and communication skills; demonstrated ability to work effectively at all levels of a complex organization; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a variety of constituents to achieve stated goals, either as part of a team or independently; and ability to work effectively with diverse populations. Must be able to work some evenings and weekends to attend donor events as necessary. Preference will be given to candidates with development experience in higher education.

Multnomah County Library in Portland, Oregon, is seeking a dynamic, service-oriented individual to direct the operations of the Central Library for this nationally recognized library system. The Central Library Director is responsible for directing, overseeing, and participating in the development of the Central Library's vision, goals, and objectives in alignment with the Library Department's vision. This position will work with other senior managers to coordinate and participate in the development of the Library Department's goals and work plan. Experience working in a unionized environment is preferred. A Master's degree in library and information science from an accredited college or university.
