The Oregon State Library Board of Trustees will meet at the Hillsboro Public Library on Friday, December 5th, 2008. M. Yvonne Williams of Portland will chair the meeting, which will begin at 9:00 a.m. 

The Board will hold work sessions on three topics: strategies to address Oregon Benchmark #38 which relates to the percentage of Oregonians with adequate public library services, plans for more cost sharing by libraries that benefit from the L-net e-reference service, and plans for assessing Board practices.  The purpose of the work sessions is to discuss these topics and reach consensus on plans for future deliberations by the Board. No final actions will be taken by the Board at this meeting.

The Board will also consider a recommendation from the Talking Book and Braille Services Advisory Council about the TBABS Long Range Plan, and hear appeals of staff decisions regarding Ready to Read grant awards for 2008-09. They will also elect new members to Board advisory councils and consider a request from the Legislative Fiscal Office for a prioritization of State Library programs. An Open Forum is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.  Anyone may address the Board on any topic at the Open Forum.

Sign language interpretation will be provided for the public if requested prior to 48 hours before the meeting; notice prior to 72 hours before the meeting is preferred.  Handouts of meeting materials may also be requested in alternate formats prior to 72 hours before the meeting.  Requests may be made to April Baker at 503/378-2464.
