[Libs-Or] iYouth Conference

Seattle's most famous librarian Nancy Pearl will join experts from
Seattle Public Library, King County Library System, Pierce County Library
System, and local elementary schools at iYouth's upcoming conference,
"What's Up: New Trends in Young Adult and Children's Librarianship,
from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31 in Mary Gates Hall.  The conference offers
two tracks for children's and young adult services. Sessions include an early
literacy workshop with entertainer Nancy Stewart, two panels on technology
trends for children and teen services, a panel on reaching reluctant readers,
teen book talks, and a manga presentation. Cost is $15 for students and $20 for

Conference sponsors include Washington Library Association's Children and Young
Adult Services, ALISS, and the Information School Development Office.
iYouth is a student group at the University of Washington that supports
professional development for present and future children's and youth services
librarians and celebrates children's and young adult literature. Current
programs include a monthly book group and training opportunities.
