Please join us for the 9th Johannah Sherrer Memorial Lecture in Library
Service, which takes place on Friday, September 26, at 3:00 pm in the
Gordon H. Smith Hall in Albany Quadrangle on the campus of Lewis & Clark
College.

Susan Gibbons, Vice Provost and Dean of River Campus Libraries at the
University of Rochester, NY, will present this year's lecture, "Aligning
Academic Libraries with Real User Needs." Gibbons' innovative work with
anthropologist Nancy Fried Foster to study the research behavior of
undergraduates has gained attention from libraries around the world.
Their findings have been presented in the co-edited book Study Students:
The Undergraduate Research Project at the University of Rochester (ALA,
2007) and covered by the Chronicle of Higher Education (8/17/07). She
will speak about her experiences with this project and the illumination
and guidance it has provided in offering library services in the new
century.

The Johannah Sherrer Memorial Lecture in Library Service was established
in 1999 to commemorate the contributions and legacies of a respected
friend, colleague, and champion of service who served as Director of the
Aubrey R. Watzek Library from July 1993 to September 1998, when she passed
away. For further information, please see
