Part-Time Position
The entry level, Library Assistant 1 position performs a variety of routine and recurring duties of a physical and clerical nature in support of Circulation Services of the Eugene Public Library. This position requires physical stamina and the ability to perform repetitive fine motion for long periods of time. The Library Assistant 1 must have the ability to respond appropriately to requests of library patrons and staff, delivering excellent customer service. In addition, the Library Assistant 1 must be able to work with assembly-line type automated sorting system observing all safety protocols. Must be available to work anytime between the hours of Sunday - Saturday: 7:00 am - 8:00 pm. Work schedule will be determined by seniority draw upon hire.

Nature of Work: Performs a variety of routine clerical and manual work in circulating and processing library materials and providing services to library patrons.
Qualifications:
a) EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED equivalent, and one year of paid library experience. Associate's degree in liberal arts or closely related field preferred.
b) KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Some knowledge of the principles and practices of modern library systems and programs and library circulation or processing techniques. Working knowledge of library classification systems and basic office procedures. Ability to: accurately maintain library filing systems; communicate effectively in speech and writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and community; and use cashier station accurately.
c) SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Candidates for this position must:
- validate paid library experience
- be willing/able to deliver story times to 20-30 young children and their parents - several times a year
- rotate between building sites 5 miles apart round trip
- stand for long periods of time up to six hours at a time
- work all days of the week including evenings and weekends
- accept last minute changes in the work schedule as well as additional hours
- possess or have ability to obtain a valid Oregon driver's license within a reasonable timeframe upon hire
Hourly Rate: $12.50 - $15.89 per hour. This position is benefits eligible.

The Library Manager is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Woodburn Public Library and delivering all library services and programs to the public.
Duties: Assist with the development and implementation of goals, objectives, polices and services for the library; manage library budget; assist in securing new funding sources through grants and other sources; supervise personnel; facilitate effective internal communications; plan and implement library programs and activities; keep records and compile reports; assess effectiveness of services, programs, operations, facilities, organizational structure, and procedures; troubleshoot computer and electronic resources issues; answer questions and provide information, coordinate library activities, conduct outreach activities, provide administrative support to the Library Board and Friends of the Library organization; and represent the City and promote library programs and services throughout the City.
Qualifications: An ALA accredited Master's degree in Library/Information Sciences, plus five to eight years professional librarian work, which includes supervisory responsibility; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the above-described essential functions. Possession of a valid Oregon driver license is required to be maintained throughout the course of employment. Proficiency in Spanish or Russian language preferred, but not required.
