[Libs-Or] OLA's withdrawal from PNLA

I was saddened and very disappointed that OLA chose to withdraw from PNLA. If the reason was only financial, I wonder what other things OLA choose to discontinue other than converting the Quarterly to online? These are hard times financially for everyone, but cutting off a professional organization in our region makes me pause.
PNLA has been and continues as one of the core organizations of librarianship in the Pacific Northwest. As the world shrinks & we become more connected to other nations OLA has disconnected itself from one of our long-time international library relatives.

You may have noticed a letter from the President of PNLA which was posted to Libs-OR on Nov. 16. That letter was sent in response to the OLA Executive Board's unanimous decision to end our institutional membership in PNLA at the end of our membership year in 2010. If you are interested in learning more, please go to http://www.olaweb.org/mc/page.do?sitePageId=99073&orgId=ola. I'd also be happy to respond to any questions you may have. Thank you.
