LIBRARY DIRECTOR, CITY OF OREGON CITY

The City of Oregon City is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to be
its Library Director. The successful candidate will have a passion, and
strategic vision for library services. This is an exciting and unique
opportunity for a creative and motivated professional librarian to lead the
growth and enhancement of the City's library services after several years of
reduced hours and services due to budget constraints. With the formation of
a new Library District in the county cooperative network of city libraries
in the November 2008 election, funding has been restored and stabilized via
a permanent District tax rate. Additionally, the new Director will be
expected to lead the planning for constructing a new library building to
meet the needs of our community. The Oregon City Library is currently
housed in a leased space approximately 13,500 square feet in size. It is
estimated that a new facility will be 30,000 to 40,000 square feet in size.

Oregon City Library is part of the Library Information Network of Clackamas
County (LINCC), a library consortium serving 11 independent public libraries
in the county. Clackamas County is located in the south metro area of
Portland Oregon and is recognized nationally as one of the most livable
areas in the US, extending from the southern edge of Portland to the top of
Mt. Hood. Enjoy all the urban amenities of a thriving metropolitan area
with countless outdoor recreation prospects of the Pacific Northwest (coast
to mountains!). The 11 independent public libraries form a cooperative by
sharing a single automation system and centralized bibliographic/electronic
resources. http://www.lincc.lib.or.us

We are proud of the fact that the working atmosphere in our consortium among
the library members and between the libraries and the LINCC Network staff is
very collaborative and friendly. LINCC libraries circulate over 6.2 million
items a year on their classic Dynix system, but are currently involved in a
migration to the new SirsiDynix Symphony product.

Education and Experience

Requires a Master of Library Science or Master of Library Science and
Information Studies from an A.L.A. accredited Masters program and a minimum
of five years of progressively responsible professional library experience,

work.
