If you are going to the ALA 2010 Conference in Washington, DC you have a
great opportunity to attend ALA's Library Advocacy Day. If you aren't
attending the Conference but are just hanging out in Washington, DC you can
also attend. In fact the more the merrier. We want to have as large an
Oregon contingency at the rally as we can get. We should even take our OLA
banner for the rally.
This registration is just to give the ALA Washington office some idea of how
many people will be attending. It is not requred for attending the rally
but will help in planning.
So, come to Washington, DC and have some fun and, at the same time,
let Congress know how important all types of libraries are.

For one year only, Library Advocacy Day will replace National Library
Legislative Day (NLLD). On June 29, 2010, library advocates from all 50
states and Washington, D.C. will meet at Upper Senate Park on the U.S.
Capitol grounds. The event, which will begin at 11 a.m., will feature
guest speakers, photo ops, and a chance to cheer on libraries! After the
rally, participants will meet with their elected officials and their staffs.
Your NLLD coordinator will be running point for your state, so please get in
touch with them if you plan to attend. To find out whom your NLLD
coordinator is, please click
here<http://www.ala.org/ala/issuesadvocacy/advocacy/libraryadvocacyday/coordinators/index.cfm>
.
The states with the most people will be featured front and center, which
means they are the ones that will be in the majority of pictures. Make sure
your state is the most represented so your group can be in the most
pictures!
More details will be on their way in the next month, so please stay tuned!
For information on state lobbying days, contact your state
chapter<http://www.ala.org/ala/mgrps/affiliates/chapters/state/stateregional.cfm>.
