Duties & Responsibilities: In association with the Outreach Program Supervisor, WCCLS team members and associated libraries, this position is responsible for providing library outreach to the Latino population.

Qualifications: A Master's level education in Library Science from an ALA accredited program is required. Extensive experience in a professional-level librarian position may substitute for the degree requirement. Knowledge of Spanish language, spelling, grammar and punctuation is required.  Applicant must possess skill in writing Spanish accurately, the ability to speak Spanish fluently, and the ability to communicate in Spanish, both orally and in writing.

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week. General schedule is Monday through Friday, 8am - 5pm, with fairly frequent need to work evening and weekend hours.

Duties & Responsibilities: The person in this position works collaboratively with three law-trained reference librarians and several student reference assistants to provide extensive reference, instructional and research services for a research-oriented law faculty and students in a technologically advanced information environment. Participates in reference desk rotation (including weekends and possibly evenings) and on-call shifts. Uses specialized subject knowledge and expertise to perform faculty liaison, teaching, and collection development activities. Participates in departmental planning and administrative duties. Meets professional development criteria for promotion and retention. Other related duties as assigned. Reports to the senior Law Reference Librarian.

Qualifications: Required: MLS/MLIS and JD degrees from accredited institutions. Candidates should have knowledge of current information technologies and publishing formats, database and Internet searching proficiencies and a mastery of basic legal research sources and techniques using both print and electronic materials. Preferred: Reference, access services, and/or collection development experience in an academic law library. The ideal candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, a strong service orientation, interest in working with an active research-oriented faculty, interest in new and emerging technologies, a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation and the ability to work in a collegial and cooperative environment. The successful candidate will support and enhance a diverse learning and working environment.

The ALN Executive Director works in a collaborative problem-solving mode consulting with the directors of the member libraries and with the State Library staff. The successful candidate must be highly motivated, have strong planning and organizational skills, sound fiscal management abilities and be an effective communicator. As the hiring institution, the University of Alaska Anchorage applies for grant funding for the ALN Executive Director position. The ALN Executive Director will hold a term faculty appointment at UAA. The supervisor of record is the Dean of UAA/APU Consortium Library. Currently there is no other staffing employed by ALN.

Salary: Minimum $55,000 annually; health and life insurance, tuition waiver benefits; represented by bargaining unit.

Requirements of the job: Master's degree from an accredited college in library or information science, media services, or closely related field.  Two years minimum of professional library experience at the manager level. Working knowledge of current library technologies.

Preferred Experience: Experience working with library consortia and/or other collaborative projects. Experience working with a policy-making board. Background in financial management of non-profit organizations. Working knowledge of grant administration.

The UO Libraries are building a pool of qualified applicants for possible temporary, short-term appointments. Positions would be of a limited duration not to exceed one year or 20 hours/week without a further competitive search. Assignments vary in location and function, depending on need. Duties may include but are not limited to: reference service in the Knight Library or branch libraries delivering instructional sessions, technical processing, collections management, and digital library development projects. Currently, the Libraries are seeking applications to fill a general need in the UO Portland Library and Learning Commons, located in the White Stag building in downtown Portland, in addition to ongoing needs at UO Libraries on the Eugene campus.
