Hours for both positions are Monday - Thursday 11:45 AM - 8:15 PM, Friday 9 AM - 5:30 PM.  Hours vary during term breaks and summer term. Minimum qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; Library/Media Assistant Certificate or one year of post high school education in library science.  One year of related experience may substitute for the certificate or post high school education. Two years experience working in a library assisting patrons is required. Preferred qualifications: evidence of commitment to providing excellent customer service; one year leadership experience in a workplace; evidence of initiative and independent judgment within general policy guidelines; experience working with minimal or no supervision; organizing work, prioritizing competing interests, meeting timelines and multitasking; evidence of ability to pay attention to detail; ability to balance prescribed processes with independent judgment; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; demonstrated ability to develop, maintain, and foster harmonious working relationships with co-workers and those contacted in the course of work; demonstrated interest and ability to work with current and emerging library and/or computer technology; experience with integrated library systems (ILS): Interlibrary Loan experience or Summit.

The library director is responsible for managing a city library serving 24,509 people as part of a countywide library district enjoying long-time public and governmental support and stable funding under the district's dedicated tax base. The Coos Bay library director works collaboratively with other county directors for provision and development of shared district library services. The library is located on the magnificent southern Oregon coast, the region's commercial, retail, educational, and cultural center. The library director supervises a staff of 11 FTE in a 25,872-foot facility slated for future expansion. Minimum qualifications include an MLS from an ALA-accredited institution of higher education, five years of progressively responsible library experience including three years in a supervisory/administrative capacity.
