Librarians across all settings can, at times, face unexpected challenges or
confrontations from an angry or upset patron, community member, coworker or
concerned citizen. Knowing how to handle these difficult conversations in
ways that can lead to a healthy resolution is critical. These issues will
be discussed in a free webinar at noon CDT on Wednesday, April 11.****

The ALA JobLIST <http://joblist.ala.org/> Placement Center and Office for
Intellectual Freedom (OIF <http://www.ala.org/offices/oif>), in conjunction
with the LeRoy C. Merritt Humanitarian Fund <http://www.merrittfund.org/>,
are pleased to present "Moving Difficult Conversations Toward Positive
Outcomes: Coping with Challenges in the Library Workplace," a free webinar
addressing conflict resolution in the workplace. This online learning event
will offer insight and preparation for approaching these difficult
conversations with an open and positive mindset, provide the tools to
defuse the situation and equip attendees with the skills and behaviors for
moving these types of conversations toward a positive outcome.****

In addition to the live webinar, the program will be recorded and made
available asynchronously as a webcast one month later.****

Speakers will be Angela Maycock, assistant director of the Office for
Intellectual Freedom, and Caitlin Williams, Ph.D., an award-winning author,
speaker and coach on topics related to workplace issues and professional
development.****
