The Johannah Sherrer Memorial Lecture in Library Service was established in
1999 by James J. Kopp to commemorate the contributions and legacies of a
respected friend, colleague and champion of service. Over the past 12
years a number of respected and notable lecturers have visited Lewis &
Clark College in Portland to share their thoughts and expertise in library
services, and are outlined on the lecture series web
page<http://library.lclark.edu/lib/sherrer.htm>
.

The lecture is attended by librarians from throughout the region and has
become an anticipated professional event. Although attendees are often
from academic libraries, topics have been of interest to school and public
librarians as well. Please consider possible speakers for the Fall 2012
lecture, and send nominations or service-related themes to
elaineghirsch at lclark.edu.

We hope the Sherrer Memorial Lecture continues to be an interesting and
inspiring event for all who attend.

Sincerely,
Elaine Gass Hirsch
Interim Associate Director
