Author: Walking Bull, Gilbert.; Moore, Sally.; Novak, Tom, (illustrations)

Publication: Sioux Falls, SD : Pine Hill Press, 2008

Document: English : Book : Fiction : Juvenile audience

This beautifully illustrated children's work will be appreciated by many.
It tells a story in which the author shares his belief that all life is
sacred and all creation is life. The story involves a sack of thunder eggs
that are long forgotten but with the aid of a dog companion are released
from the sack and go back to living in sunlight. This work first appeared
in the privately published anthology, O-HU-KAH-KAN, and was later published
in this illustrated, book format. Sally Moore and the Gilbert Walking Bull
worked together to produce this work. The words are easy for young children
and the exquisite pencil drawings by Tom Novak bring the story to life.

Gilbert Walking Bull, who has passed away, was an Oglala Lakota and a
descendent of James Moves Camp, a Lakota sacred man.
