The Oregon Chapter of the Special Libraries Association (ORSLA) is looking
for library professionals working in the fields of research, corporate,
museum/archives and art/design to volunteer for our upcoming Library
Student Resume Review-O-Rama event.

Our goal is to have each librarian spend about an hour reviewing resumés
and imparting sound professional advice to soon-to-be-graduating Oregon MLS
and MLIS library students.

If you are interested in volunteering for this amazing event, please
contact me by Monday, June 4th at string1967 at gmail.com.

Thank you!

Here is the event announcement as sent to the students:

********************************************************************************************

*What:** ORSLA LIBRARY STUDENT RESUME REVIEW-O-RAMA!*

*Who:* for all Oregon MLS/MLIS students, and non-students too!

*When:* Saturday, June 9, 2012, 1:00-3:30 PM

*Where:* Portland State University, Smith Memorial Student Union, Room #294

So you’ll be graduating from library school soon -- maybe in a month, maybe
in a year -- and you’re wondering how to impress potential employers,
right? The Oregon Chapter of the Special Libraries Association wants to
help! Attend our upcoming professional development event for library
students, and you can get personalized advice on your resume from an actual
professional librarian!

Attendees currently enrolled in any MLS/MLIS program will receive a
selection of simulated job postings to which to apply. These jobs will
come from a variety of special library fields. Submitted resumes will then
be matched to an ORSLA professional librarian for personal, individual
review at the event.

Non-students can also look forward to a presentation on early-career job
search strategies for librarians by social media guru Scott Brown. Scott
gave a great presentation on social networking for library professionals at
the ORSLA Annual Dinner in October, and we’re thrilled that he’s coming
back to offer his insight to new librarians. This will also be a great
chance to get back to basics in your own professional development, to
reconnect with the community of librarians and information professionals,
and to get a look at the new talent coming out of library school.

*This event is *totally *FREE* for current MLS/MLIS students.

*Recent grads, *early-career librarians, unemployed /underemployed library
job seekers: $5.00

*Professional *librarians: $10.00

*Final *registration deadline is *May 28, 2012 *for resume review. Only a
few review slots remain! Fill out the
application<http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/YVDT59T>and get your name on
the RSVP list! Further details and payment information
will follow shortly.

*Please note: *there will be no recruiters at this event, and no actual
hiring or interviewing will take place. This resume review event is for
practice and feedback purposes only.
