The Oregon State Library is currently exploring opportunities for libraries to assist with the efforts to spread information about Cover Oregon, the state's health insurance exchange program scheduled for rollout in October 2013. We will soon be able to provide information to libraries about ordering promotional materials and making connections with local community partners providing enrollment assistance.

Libraries who may want get a head start and explore partnerships with local organizations to provide outreach and public education related to Cover Oregon will want to be aware of the grant opportunity described below.

Funding Opportunities
Requests for Grant Proposals (RFGPs) are now posted on the state's procurement website, the Oregon Procurement Information Network (ORPIN)<http://coveroregon.us4.list-manage2.com/track/click?u=7b25be8a3597cc17bd5a34a32&id=8fc6047040&e=73e99d0b41>. Grantee organizations will be chosen through a formal RFGP process. OHA will evaluate proposals and award funds based on a proposed work plan and budget. Both grants will remain open until August 28, 2013. OHA anticipates that final agreements will be signed by October 1, 2013.
Public Education & Outreach Grant
The Public Education and Outreach Grant Program (grant 3640) is available to community-based organizations, local governments, and coalitions, and is designed to provide targeted outreach and public education to Oregonians who are potentially eligible to access health insurance through Cover Oregon, including people living in geographically isolated areas or with additional barriers. This grant does not fund enrollment assistance. Grant funding is for six months in conjunction with Cover Oregon open enrollment, running from October 2013 through March 2014.

More information about other opportunities for libraries to participate will be forthcoming ... I wanted to get the word out about this grant opportunity since the timeline for application is relatively short.
