[Libs-Or] weapons prohibited signage

The Albany Public Library does have a sign saying weapons are prohibited, but I believe that the ORS prohibiting weapons in public buildings exempts those with concealed weapon permits : Subsection (1) of this section does not apply to: A person who is licensed under ORS 166.291 (Issuance of concealed handgun license)<http://www.oregonlaws.org/ors/166.291> and 166.292 (Procedure for issuing)<http://www.oregonlaws.org/ors/166.292> to carry a concealed handgun.

Weapons are prohibited in public buildings as per ORS 166.370 -  http://www.oregonlaws.org/ors/166.370  We have a sign posted referencing that statute.

When I was working in Idaho, people would carry guns into the public library.   My director said there wasn't anything that could be done about this because if they were licensed, they had a legal right to carry the weapons.  The only action I was told would be okay was to not permit the guns in the children's room.  I imagine that what kind of signs you can put up is dependent upon where you are located.  I agree that checking with your attorney is good route to go.

Talk with your attorney, putting a sign up can be a really "loaded" action.

Our city council had to remove theirs as our state representative is very pro gun and fought them on it and won. I don't know the details, but...
